Today I take a look at the Nanlite Forza 300 LED Light. A while back, my Aputure 120D decided it was going to stop staying on for more than 5 minutes, so I'm on the hunt for a new light. While the 120D has been a good light (until it's little SNAFU), I've always wanted something a little brighter. In this series, I take a look at several different lights in the 300 watt range. Most stupid thing I ever seen. Blackmagic camera does have gyro. In Davinci Resolve you can remove rolling shutter without shooting vertical like an indiot. You are welcome. But rolling shutter problems are not jost about camera movements, but also fast moving objects... there is no fix you just need global shutter or very very fast read-out speed (2ms or something like that).

    The R6 drove me crazy. Like working with a genius with a multiple personality disorder. It is a brilliant camera but the old canon menu system is just not up to the job any more, that’s the disorder. There is no discernible logic to the button and dial layout so swapping between modes or stills and video can totally scramble the controls - that’s the multiple personalities. For someone using it everyday doing the same type of work I'm sure it can be a great fit. Me, I swap shooting styles a lot with different ways of holding the camera which meant tripping buttons and losing control mid shoot. I never felt at one with this machine. Often, video not recorded cos the Red record signal is poorly placed. IBIS destroying pans. Stupid technical gotchas when shooting video that really shouldn't rely on you having a flow chart in your head. I sold it. The R looks like just the machine for me.

    I own a crop canon 800D paired with a Sigma 17-55mm f/2.8 that i use for photography and light video. Also have a Lumix g85 paired with 25mm f/1.5 i use mainly for video (events, interviews, commercials) and livestreaming. I want to upgrade the canon 800D to a camera i can do professional event and documentary photography and also use it in my livestreaming setup. I'm quite confused what to get, weather the 5D Mk 4 or the R. Please what would you propose for me, I'm mid level in production and not a huge budget. Thanks for the reply. Your video is great i must say!😊

  • @valkiron11
    @valkiron11 3 місяці тому

    Not really necessary for Blackmagic cameras, as any distortion caused by fast panning can be fixed in Davinci Resolve (so long as you shoot in BRAW). But it can help to avoid slant distortion in passing objects shot from a moving car, like fences and trees. A wide lens and high-resolution sensor is advised for this "trick".

  • @valkiron11
    @valkiron11 3 місяці тому

    It technically still produces distortion, because the image widens and flattens a bit as the camera moves from side to side. Also, this trick does NOT prevent distortion of rotating objects, like helicopter rotors or fidget spinners, when shooting at high speed.

  • @abbasnakhlband9411
    @abbasnakhlband9411 3 місяці тому

    That would result in a worse effect!! Otherwise, the manufacturers would make cameras that read vertically.

    • @valkiron11
      @valkiron11 3 місяці тому

      They would make cameras that read *horizontally (left to right), not vertically. They're already reading vertically (top to bottom). And it certainly isn't "worse". It's just not really a solution to distortion overall. There's a trade-off either way. You can whip-pan horizontally and get the dreaded jello effect or do it vertically and get a slight stretching/flattening effect. Neither are ideal. But between them, the latter is preferred. Horizontal readout sensors were definitely a missed opportunity, because horizontal whip-pans are FAR more common than vertical ones.

    Aspect Ratio💀

  • @silas1414
    @silas1414 3 місяці тому

    The trick in the video is a great start but incomplete, for those seeking a full solution, I do as follows: Shoot with a camera that has open gate, turn 90 degrees, shoot your desired horizontal motion problematic footage, then in the edit flip back to normal, crop out your desired aspect ratio. Now you will not lose resolution as you would have shooting 4K UHD 16:9/C4K etc like in the video.

    • @valkiron11
      @valkiron11 3 місяці тому

      High resolution and wide lenses definitely help. Also, if the camera supports it, you can use a custom frame guide set at 9:16 aspect ratio for better accuracy. 👍
